I think the big mistake in schools is trying to teach children anything, and by using fear as the basic motivation. Fear of getting failing grades, fear of not staying with your class, etc. Interest can produce learning on a scale compared to fear as a nuclear explosion to a firecracker.

Lago di carezza (by Vogelbetrachter)
Tomorrow is Cher’s birthday. From the age of 5 I have loved this woman with every fiber of my being. She is my mama. I have cried, laughed, danced, and grown up to her work. She has been the source of hope for me in my absolute worst moments. Her voice, presence, music, laugh, and essence have contributed in forming me into the girl I am today. Whether it’s Take Me Home, Perfection, Alive Again, Heart of Stone or any of her other songs, I have found serenity from each one at some point in my life. She has reminded me to be tough, not to take any nonsense (but I bet she would use a different term), and to go with my gut. Her movies got me through my 8th grade and freshman years. Her interviews are put on repeat during those incredibly trying days. I had the immense of seeing her live 3 times within one year. I was at her final show at the Colosseum. I was second row at another show. I consider her to be “the other woman who raised me.”
From Laverne to Rachel to Loretta to every other character she has stepped into. From a 16 year old California girl named Cherilyn in love with a “funny looking” guy named Sonny to the most influential woman in Pop history. From bankruptcy to an Oscar and every other award imaginable.
Cher changed my life and changed me.
My love for Cher is unlike any of my others. It is not greater than my love & adoration for “my boys”, Paul, or for Stevie, it is simply a different love. I owe Cher the world. She is my mama. I can never thank her enough for everything she is to me nor for everything she has done for me.
Happy Birthday Cher. I love you. Thank you.
